CDs and Recordings, From the Road A Note From Rumor Control

A certain rather large, wisecracking, bebopping alto saxophone player did not destroy my bass when he fell on it during a performance last week at the Lighthouse, the day before my recording date. He did knock the bridge and strings off and the soundpost fell. One second I’m grooving away with my eyes closed and the next I’m looking down at a caustic galoot on top of my bass and there are no strings under my fingers.

It was a nightmare and I was in a state of shock but my friend and luthier Lisa Gass made a special trip to her shop on a Sunday and put it back together that night. She restored my faith in humanity!

Our recording dates were amazing, I’ve never been happier with a project at this stage. We recorded all original tunes, even two vocals! One more session to go, John Clayton and I are each going to play three parts on my bass ensemble piece, “Riff Raff”.

The post Doc Severinsen era is shaping up to be very positive!
